First Drug for Infantile Spasms Gets Approved

The oral antiepileptic drug vigabatrin has been approved for treating refractory complex partial seizures in adults as well as infantile spasms—the first drug in the United States approved to treat the latter disorder—with a risk management plan that addresses the risk of permanent vision loss associated with the drug.
