An 83-year-old female presented to the emergency department after fainting at home. She was unresponsive for 1–2 minutes after having a bowel movement. The patient reported severe, episodic, stabbing jaw pain on the left side for the last several weeks. The pain had persisted despite a recent outpatient evaluation and antibiotic and analgesic therapy. To find out how imaging helped to make the diagnosis, see Image of the Month, p. 11.
