Presentation within 3 hours of symptom onset and antecedent warfarin use are known risk factors for hematoma expansion in patients with acute intra-cerebral hemorrhage. Unfortunately, either many patients present later than 3 hours or the time of their symptom onset is unknown. To find out how contrast CT angiography may provide a marker for patients who will have subsequent hematoma expansion, see Image of the Month, p. 18.
