CHICAGO — Because up to 20% of strokes begin in the heart, cardiac imaging should be part of the work-up of many stroke patients. Electrocardiographically gated multidetector CT can assess the brain, cerebral vessels and carotid arteries as well as the heart simultaneously and expedite diagnosis, according to Dr. Gautham Reddy, who presented his findings at the annual meeting of the American Society of Neuroradiology.
