Infections Prompted Request For Recall of Surgical Implants

The Food and Drug Administration on May 2 formally requested that Shelhigh Inc. of Union, N.J., recall all cardiovascular, surgical, pediatric, and neurologic implants it had in distribution and in hospital inventories, because of concerns about sterility.
