Leukoaraiosis Described as a Vascular Disease

PORTO, PORTUGAL — Leukoaraiosis is a vascular disease, judging from the finding that patients with demonstrable leukoaraiosis on MRI show significantly decreased afferent vascular density in normal-appearing white matter as well as in the area of the lesion, Dr. Dixon M. Moody said at the Fourth International Congress on Vascular Dementia.
